A Fishy Day

Who could have known that today would lead to a brush with possible disaster!

It was just another P-day walk on the beach at Black Rock. Sun, clouds, gentle breezes. As Mom and I walked along we lazily looked skyward and watched a flock of frigate birds slowly riding the air currents. It was a beautiful sight to see. Then we noticed that one of the frigates was holding something in its beak. As this magnificent bird came closer we saw that it was a fish. How quaint. Then, as the bird came directly overhead, we gasped as the fish was suddenly dropped from the beak. Mom and I smiled at first then began to realize that the fish was tumbling to earth in a path that would intersect directly with where we were walking. Screaming, “Look out!” to each other we jumped aside as the fish slammed into the beach, narrowly missing us. I thought I saw a tiny tear of appreciation well up in Mom’s eye as we considered the near-miss. She gently squeezed my rippling bicep in gratitude for saving her from almost certainly smelling like fish for the rest of the day.

Was the frigate trying to bomb us? Was the fish just too heavy to carry? Perhaps we will never know. We just gave thanks for another “tender mercy.”

All of the above is completely true (except for the “rippling bicep”).

Shwew!! Good thing you were there to prevent a tragedy! :) What are those birds trying to say? You may never know, but there has to be some sort of gospel analogy you can use in a talk there somewhere. heehee

Hey-I wanted to make a request for your blog if that is appropriate (if not, sorry! but I will request anyway).

I would love for you to write some biographies or conversion stories about some of the people you have met in Tobago that are special to you. Nothing too crazy, but enough to help us feel like we can see who you hang with.

What do you think?

Can't wait to see you-oops-sorry to mention the end of the mission-don't get too trunky! ha Love you!!
